Fundraising in the community

At The Watercress Company we have always prided ourselves in what we can do raising money for the local community; from bags of watercress for the village fete to large events raising significant contributions.

We have some key charities and also sponsor specific events such as school trips for The Thomas Hardye School; the Dorchester Marathon with the Rotary and The Watercress Festival that raised essential funds for Joe Glover Trust. Where possible we offer talks or presentations to local groups and charities and any contributions are passed onto our principle charities.

Donations

Following an approached by a lovely lady called Sarah regarding a watercress donation, we are providing some of our hampshire crop to Perins School Charity Ball on Sat the 4th May. The event will be hosting 120 people and food donations are being provided by the local butcher and other companies in Alresford. We hope the evening goes well and look forward to seeing some pictures so we can post online.

On 27th March Tom popped up to see the Cheselbourne & District Gardening Club. This is a wide catchment of enthusiasts that covers Ansty and Milton Abbas. They were particularly interested in reducing food packaging and health benefits of watercress and were delighted to receive samples of watercress and the opportunity to use watercress in future fundraising events in their area. Many thanks marie for the very kind donation of £70 that will go into our community chest for local Charities, and a huge thank you to Sarah for the backup laptop! Tom x

On 21 March Tom joined Trent Gardening Club just outside Yeovil and gave a presentation to over 35 enthusiastic attendees. The key topics of discussion were relating to reducing plastic use and going back to bunches and how to keep watercress fresh longest. The group very kindly donated £86 and we have committed to providing Watercress & Spinach for soup days in their village and consignments of watercress they can sell to raise much needed funds. A huge thank you again from Tom x

What a fascinating account you gave us of the history of The Watercress Company and how it has developed into the success story of today - We were also interested to hear of your development plans for the future, The lecture was very warmly received, as were the bags of watercress! Many thanks Indeed.

We recently had a talk by Tom Amery from TWC. What an informative evening enjoyed by all. I spoke to him afterwards and mentioned I always made watercress soup for our Lent lunches. How thrilled I was to be told I could receive free ingredients. I collected them last week and I was impressed with the views of the waterbeds.. I am very grateful for your generous donation
